The Exumas Cays (pronounced “keys” in the Bahamas) stretch for well over 100 miles from Ship Channel Cays east of Nassau to Hog Cay off Little Exuma Island in the south. The deep waters of Exuma Sound front the east side of the archipelago, providing for excellent sport fishing. To the north is Eleuthera; east is Cat Island and south Long Island. Beautiful beaches can be found on both sides the Exuma island chain, making them famous amongst boaters and the rich and famous who own private islands amongst the over 365 individual cays and islands.

Georgetown is the largest, and really the only town in the Exumas. It lies on Great Exuma Island and is easily accessible by plane from Florida. Georgetown is home to a large regatta that attracts thousands every spring to the island to watch Family Island sloops compete. Several other popular gathering spots occur up the still pristine chain including Farmer’s, Staniel, Compass, Sampson, Normans and Highbourne Cays. Georgetown is a popular jump-off spot for boaters and sailors heading south to the Caribbean, as it is the last practical spot for fuel and supplies when leaving the Bahamas.
