First Vessel to Complete the Northwest Passage Unassisted
Is voyaging the Northwest Passage on your sea fairing bucket list?
Bluewater Books & Charts takes pride in helping vessels navigate new plateaus and sharing their stories. Motoryacht Beothuk, a 31m Kuipers, just became the first vessel this season to cross the Northwest Passage unassisted by an icebreaker. The skill and attention to safety displayed by the captain and crew is something to strive towards for all vessels looking to escape the ordinary.
For those who don’t know, the Victoria Straits is a 160km ice breaker chokepoint where the water is completely frozen 10 months out of the year. We wish M/Y Beothuk luck and fair seas as they continue through the Bellot Straits and Arctic Bay as they continue their circumnavigation of North America. Give them a follow on social media to watch them complete their journey.
