The Great Circle cruise is a great way to see the United States and Canada - all on protected waters. The route goes north from Florida on the ICW to the Hudson River and the Erie Canal to Oswego. Then you cross Lake Ontario to the 1,000 Islands and the Trent Seven Waterway out into Georgian Bay. Work your way over to Lake Michigan and south to Chicago. Rivers will move you south to Mobile where you will pick up the Gulf ICW which will take you back to Florida.

The route will depend on your boat and there are restrictions which may prevent your following a particular course. The primary limitation for all boaters is the 19 foot 2 inch height of a fixed bridge south of Chicago, and a 5 foot draft on the Trent Severn and Rideau Waterways. Keyword: Great Loop
